Erika Durlacher’s journey to the “roof of Africa”— the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro — began eight years ago when her husband Peter was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.She was determined, however, to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, before she turned 70 and though she will be the oldest member of her Ascent For Alzheimer’s team, led once again by Whistler’s Sue Oakey in September, that doesn’t concern her. She’s on a mission, after all: to raise money for research and to support people living with the degenerative disease that has made relentless progress in her life since 2006.…
