Judge says case did not meet ‘standard of fairness’ because regulator’s office did not speak with family of one of the complainants
A B.C. Supreme Court justice has ruled that the commissioner for the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch did not act fairly when investigating a complaint about two young boys from the Squamish Nation being tied together by their principal. In her decision Jan. 3, Justice Emily Burke wrote the case did not meet the “standard of fairness” because nobody from the regulator’s office spoke with family members of one of the young boys who had made the complaint, or others in the First Nations community who would have been able to shed further light on the issue.…
